“CLIMB TILL YOUR DREAM COMES TRUE”

 by HELEN STEINER RICE

OFTEN YOUR TASKS WILL BE MANY, AND MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU CAN DO…

OFTEN THE ROAD WILL BE RUGGED AND THE HILLS INSURMOUNTABLE, TOO…

BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER,THE HILLS AHEAD ARE NEVER AS STEEP AS THEY SEEM, AND WITH FAITH IN YOUR HEART START UPWARD AND CLIMB TILL YOU REACH YOUR DREAM,

FOR NOTHING IN LIFE THAT IS WORTHY IS EVER TOO HARD TO ACHIEVE IF YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO TRY IT AND YOU HAVE THE FAITH TO BELIEVE…

FOR FAITH IS A FORCE THAT IS GREATER THAN KNOWLEDGE OR POWER OR SKILL AND MANY DEFEATS TURN TO TRIUMPH IF YOU TRUST IN GOD’S WISDOM AND WILL…

FOR FAITH IS A MOVER OF MOUNTAINS, THERE’S NOTHING THAT GOD CANNOT DO, SO START OUT TODAY WITH FAITH IN YOUR HEART AND…

“CLIMB TIL YOUR DREAM COMES TRUE”!

Reasons You Are Blessed

2008/04/05 by Winnie

As Shared by *Sly* …

REASONS YOU ARE BLESSED!

If you own a Bible, you are abundantly blessed-about 1/3 of the world does not have access to one.

If you wake up each morning with more health than Illness, you are blessed to rise and shine, to live and
To serve in a new day.

If you have anyone on the planet, just one person that Loves you and listens to you; count this a blessing.

If you can freely attend a church meeting without fear, Then you are more blessed than over 1/3 of the world.

If you have a yearning in your heart to parent a child, You are blessed because you still desire what you cannot see.

If you pray today or any day, you are blessed because you Believe in God’s willingness to hear your prayer.

If you pray for someone else, you are blessed because you want to help others also.

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, and a place to sleep; all at the same time; you are rich in this world;

If you have a brother or sister in Christ that will pray with you and for you, then you benefit from a spiritual unity, bond, and agreement, which the gates of hell cannot stand against.

If you have any earthly family that even halfway loves you and support you, you are blessed beyond measure.

If you attend a church with a church family that offers you one word of encouragement, you are blessed with some form of fellowship.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, or some spare change in a dish someplace you are among the world’s wealthy.

If you can go to bed each night, knowing that God loves you, you are blessed beyond measure.

If you can read this message, you are more blessed than about 2/3 of the world.

If you have never had to endure the hardship and agony Of battle, imprisonment, or torture, you are blessed in indescribable measure.

If you have a voice to sing His praises, a voice to witness God’s love, and a voice to share the gospel, you are blessed. About 1/3 of the world does not even know who the one true God is.

If you can hold someone’s hand, hug another person, touch someone on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God’s healing touch.

If you can share a word of encouragement with someone else, and do it with His love in your heart, you are blessed because you have learned how to give.

If you have the conviction to stand fast upon His Word and His promises, no matter what, you are blessed because you are learning patience, endurance, and tenacity.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because most people can, but won’t.

Now go on give God some praise!….

You are BLESSED

March 30, 2008 A Moment of Joy

2008/03/30 by Winnie

When I drove up in my taxi cab at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window.

Under these circumstances, many taxi drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, and then drive away.

But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation.

Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself.

So I walked to the door and knocked. “Just a minute”, answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90’s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. the apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

“Would you carry my bag out to the car?” she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. “It’s nothing”, I told her. “I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated”.

“Oh, you’re such a good boy”, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked, “Could you
drive through downtown?”

“It’s not the shortest way,” I answered quickly.

“Oh, I don’t mind,” she said.

“I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice”.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. “I don’t have any family left,” she continued. “The doctor says I don’t have very long.” I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

“What route would you like me to take?” I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city.

She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds.

She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, “I’m tired. Let’s go now.”

We drove in silence to the address she had given me.It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

“How much do I owe you?” she asked, reaching into her purse.

“Nothing,” I said “You have to make a living,” she answered.

“There are other passengers,” I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

“You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,” she said.

“Thank you.”

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?

What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT
YOU SAID, ~BUT~THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

You won’t get any big surprise in 10 days if you send this to ten people. But, you might help make the world a little kinder and more compassionate by sending it on.

Thank you, my friend…

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance …

March 01, 2008 ~Reality check – from the heart~

2008/03/01 by Winnie

As shared by Elke …

First of all, please allow me to give credit for the message to a gem of a friend by the name of T Counce who, by the way, gave me permission to mass mail the missive below.

I gave her a standing ovation when I read it and believe that everyone needs a reality check every now and then……especially when the message is so jam-packed with truth, passion and an underlying message of love, peace and hope!!!

Should you feel offended … don’t be! That’s not the purpose of this message at all!!! … and if you feel the words and the motivation behind them, please spread this message far and wide – and thank you again, T – for speaking some words of wisdom – straight from the heart!

It’s in the air, it’s on the net, it’s in conversations at truck stops…and it just keeps going and going and going…in my personal opinion there in lies the problem.
In the last week I’ve received emails that I’m not patriotic if I don’t forward some message, or I need to work on my people skills if I don’t forward another so I can see how many times I can get it back, or somebody pissing and moaning because they are white and they can’t have “white pride”…I’ve been deleting this kind of trash for months…but the last week, I’ve just hit the point where I’m tired of being tolerant of other peoples ignorance, or their conscious or unconscious desire to perpetuate ignorance, down right stupidity, bullying, idiosy that so many people think is “the right thing to do” in the name of God and or Country.
First of all … I am an American … a true American … that fully understands what this country is about and how it got started and how it evolved…
It started with white men stealing it from the people who lived here first (we now call Native Americans)…it was built by the blood, sweat, tears and lives of many who came from Ireland, China, Africa…and a few others that no one ever talks about. We enjoy cheaper produce because of the Hispanic people, that will not only do the work that you won’t catch many white folk doing for very long, but for MUCH LESS than we would accept in payment…but everyone wants to deport them. This country held it’s Black population down and back for so long we get all funny about the Negro College Fund…they found a way to rise above the stupidity that had been forced upon them…and did you know that a white person CAN get a scholarships or grants at many Black Colleges just because they are white?????
Everyone is so busy going around judging everyone else, their culture, their background, how they look, what they do…
Who the hell are you? You are but a grain of sand on this blue ball we call earth…is your life perfect? I sincerely doubt it…we’ve all become too dysfunctional to be anywhere near perfect.
Everyone on this planet has a purpose…that purpose is to make the world work…and there are VERY FEW doing so…
Instead we complain about this person, that race, this circumstance…we fuss about everything…
Get over yourselves…
And after you do that, take a really good look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself this one question: “Am I really doing ALL that I can do to make this planet a better place?” You don’t have to have a lot of money, and you don’t have to have a lot of talent, but you do have to step outside of your little box, that is your world, and step into the big picture…or are you happy driving everyone crazy, constantly complaining about this or that…or ticking people off because you are so busy being the Judge and Jury of everyone else…that you don’t even bother to work on your own shortcomings?????
Every society, every culture, every nationality, every single person has something positive to contribute to what we call life…don’t you th
ink it’s time we become the people we were meant to be and get busy with the contributions instead of sitting around and bitching about what everyone else has or how one person or a group of people from one situation or another has done someone else wrong and therefore the rest of us have to pay for it?

Death of an Employee

2008/02/28 by Winnie

One day all the employees reached the office and they saw a big advice on the door on which it was written:

‘Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company passed away. We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been prepared in the gym’.

In the beginning, they all got sad for the death of one of their colleagues, but after a while they started getting curious to know who was that man who hindered the growth of his colleagues and the company itself. The excitement in the gym was such that security agents were ordered to control the crowd within the room.

The more people reached the coffin, the more the excitement heated up. Everyone thought: ‘Who is this guy who was hindering my progress? Well, at least he died!’. One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless. They stood nearby the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul. There was a mirror inside the coffin: everyone who looked inside it could see himself.

There was also a sign next to the mirror that said:

There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU . You are the only person who can revolutionize your life. You are the only person who can influence your happiness, your realization and your success. You are the only person who can help yourself. Your life does not change when your boss changes, when your friends change, when your parents change, when your partner changes, when your company changes. Your life changes when YOU change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs, when you realize that you are the only one responsible for your life. ‘The most important relationship you can have is the one you have with yourself’

Examine yourself, watch yourself. Don’t be afraid of difficulties, impossibilities and losses: be a winner, build yourself and your reality. It’s the way you face Life that makes the difference.
